With over 130m followers on Instagram, it’s fair to say that pop princess Ariana Grande has an army of fans obsessed with her style. She has driven thousands of searches for brands including Reebok, Burberry and Vera Wang this year, while searches for her wardrobe staple – oversized hoodies – are up 130% year on year.
Last year’s most powerful fashion influencer Queen Ri Ri had a busy 2018 growing her Fenty empire of beauty and lingerie but still managed to pull of some serious fashion looks. The fuchsia Saint Laurent bubble dress she chose for her 30th birthday party sold out worldwide, and the Gucci balaclava she wore at Coachella caused a 19% spike in searches.
8. Blake Lively
2018 brought the power suit to Blake Lively’s wardrobe. She wore black suits. She wore white suits. She wore neon suits. She wore three-piece suits. She wore velvet suits. She wore checked suits. During the promotional tour for movie A Simple Favor, the blonde beauty wore a cream striped double-breasted two-piece by Ralph Lauren which inspired over 4,000 searches for Ralph Lauren suits the following week.

In September influencer Chiara married rapper Fedez in custom Dior. Thanks to Chiara’s lavish wedding coverage to her 15 million social media followers, Lyst saw a 109% increase in searches for Dior the following week.
6. Serena Williams
Tennis champion Serena Williams’s controversial sporting outfits made the US Open a huge fashion moment this year. Her Off-White x Nike ensemble caused a surge in demand for black tennis outfits week on week and searches for ‘black tennis skirts’ and ‘black tennis dresses’ increased by 108%.
No powerful fashion list is complete without Queen Bey. From her Coachella performance to her music videos, Beyoncé’s style influence was felt everywhere. Her custom Balmain yellow cropped BAK sweater caused a 58% rise in searches for Balmain hoodies. Her pink suit from the viral ‘Apes***’ video inspired a surge in pink suit searches over the summer.
4. Cardi B
She’s been making history in the music industry, transforming into an absolute style queen while doing so. Rapper Cardi B was the most influential face at Fashion Week this year, sitting front row next to Anna Wintour at Alexander Wang’s presentation and sending searches soaring for every designer she wore, from Christian Siriano to Jeremy Scott.

The Markle Sparkle is here, and it isn’t going away anytime soon. The Duchess of Sussex’s wedding day outfits caused huge spikes in searches for both Givenchy and Stella McCartney, while her daytime looks have inspired millions of shoppers to try a ‘boat neck’ or ‘tuxedo dress’. On average, if Meghan wears a designer, that brand will see a +200% increase in search demand over the following week.

Kim Kardashian had quite the year in fashion. She made history as the first recipient of the CFDA’s Influencer Award, made bike shorts cool, made neon clothing look good at any occasion (not just raves) and brought back the 90s thong. She helped revive the Fendi logo when she posted a photo dressed head to toe in the FF ‘Zucca’ monogram, helping boost searches by 16% month on month.

She built her beauty empire, welcomed her first child with rapper beau Travis Scott and is set to become the youngest self-made billionaire. A true style chameleon, Kylie has driven more than 2 million searches this year, from Adidas tracksuits and Dior sunglasses to Victoria Secret underwear and Alexander Wang mini dresses. Her pink dress she wore to her birthday party saw searches for pink dresses increase by 107% in 48 hours.
